Visualize to Transform Your Reality

Visualisation: What is it exactly, and how does it work?

We all have goals we want to achieve or dreams we want to realize. So, imagine yourself taking action to reach them. Picture everything unfolding just the way you want. And if that little voice whispers, “Yes, but you’ll probably hit obstacles and fail along the way,” answer it with a mental image of success. Visualize yourself overcoming the obstacle—and then celebrating your victory.

Start simple, with a positive image. Celebrate yourself. Then add details.

👉 For example

In my twenties, I worked in tourism and spent most of the year abroad. Still, I decided to enroll in university, which offered distance learning. Every six months, I returned home to take in-person exams. To make the most of my time, I sometimes scheduled six exams in a single session, over just five days! It was overwhelming… yet I ended up with excellent results. I wasn’t a prodigy—I came from an arts and humanities background and was just starting in economics and business. How did I manage it?
Without realizing it, I was already practicing visualization.

When I studied, I would recite lessons out loud in front of a mirror. For written exams, I wrote my answers while reading them aloud. When the material felt too vast, I made choices instead of getting discouraged. As the exam approached, I imagined possible questions, my answers, and the professors’ positive reactions—adding more and more detail to my mental scenario. After repeating this process, I felt fully in control. I even “decided” the grade I would get. And you know what? It happened exactly as I had imagined.

By then, I had become a real visualization expert.

Seeing yourself in action, mimicking the movements, putting words to them, saying them clearly and out loud… it all helps project your mental image into reality. It’s a powerful tool.

Of course, preparation was key—but visualization helped me stay confident, focused, and calm.

👉 Another example?

In 2024, I was diagnosed with cancer. I trusted traditional medicine and followed all treatments prescribed. But I also did my part.

Every day, I took time to imagine myself under showers of light: white, yellow, orange, red, green, blue, and violet.

The white light cleansed me of impurities. The yellow felt warm, penetrating my skin with a gentle sense of well-being. The orange smelled like citrus, sparkling and effervescent—it acted like an exfoliant, removing unwanted particles (the illness) from my body. I lingered longer on affected areas but cared for every cell.

The red light was warm, with a strawberry scent. It melted away what the previous light had lifted, flowing from head to toe and carrying impurities away.

The green smelled of pine. Dense, almost gel-like, it healed tissues. The blue, cold and invigorating, strengthened my body. Finally, the violet felt like a gentle caress, scented with lavender, filling me with love and tenderness.

I took these “light showers” in my room, eyes closed, moving my arms as if I were really showering, describing each step aloud. After repeating the ritual, I could even “smell” the oranges, pine, or lavender, as if they were actually in the room.

Was it the medicine or my visualizations that healed me? Probably a mix of both. But I truly believe these visualizations helped my body and mind accept the treatments and get the most out of them. They calmed me, gave me a sense of control, and silenced that little voice whispering the worst.

In Conclusion

Visualization takes time, energy, and focus. With work, family, and countless responsibilities, it’s easy to put aside. But like anything, start small. Journaling, positive affirmations, meditation… these tools can help you build the habit.

Start by visualizing something simple: you, happy, in a place you love, surrounded by people you love. You’ll see—it can already change your day.

Remember: life is beautiful, and you deserve to enjoy it. 🌿✨
